Problem with macTeX, help!

Hello, i've stumbled upon a problem: I downloaded mactex, opened texshop and i seem to be unable to use latvian specific symbols. When i try to compile, the pdf displays "?" instead of the symbol.

Im a little lost here as i found no documentation about a latvian language pack.
I know the answer is out there, but a little help would be appriciated.

Thank you, swiftaw. Using XeLaTeX solved my problem!
