Problem with Mail VIPs

I've set two people as VIP in my Mail yet the VIP inbox is completely empty even tho I know I have many mails from them, even after I assigned them as VIP. Anyone know what to do here?

It only changes mail that arrives after you set them as VIP, not mail already in your box.

Also doesn't work if you have those contacts filtered to other folders other than the inbox.

i have several VIP's who have folders off of mailbox and it still works fine.
notifications show up properly.

All of my VIP contacts messages still appear in the VIP box after they are read.
