I'm trying to migrate from a mid-2010 Mac Pro to a new iMac. The problem is that Migration Assistant (seemingly) recognises everything on the old Mac except my own user account. For that account, it registered a size of zero kB (rather than the 700+ MB that's really there!)

The data storage on the MP is split between a SSD (system, applications, Admin account) and two HDDs in a mirror RAID configuration (my account), and I'm trying to migrate this all to a single fusion drive.

Of course, given Apple's never-ending drive towards planned obsolescence innovation, none of the ports on the MP are compatible with the iMac. So target disc mode is out. I have therefore connected the two computers over ethernet, and they are plugged into the same switch.

I upgraded the MP to High Sierra (probably not necessary, but by that time I was clutching at straws).

I have, I think, repaired permissions on my user account (although the current way of doing things seems to be so much quicker than the old days, when Disk Utility had this functionality).

I have wiped and reinstalled the OS on the iMac several times.

But no dice. Does anyone have any ideas how I might get this to work?
