Hi. I have a problem with my HP printer. I have downloaded original drivers. Now when I'm trying to print something I am always getting the error "Filter failed", sometimes it is a little bit different but it always says about "filter". Scanning works perfectly. I have already tried everything, I've been googling the error for about 3 hours and nothing works. Please help me
There is the description of the problem (I cut only the important part):

Dyld Error Message:
Symbol not found: _cupsRasterOpen
Referenced from: /Library/Printers/hp/cups/Inkjet9.driver/Contents/MacOS/Inkjet9
Expected in: /usr/lib/libcups.2.dylib

It would be helpful to others reading your post for you to list in detail all of the troubleshooting steps you have already done. "Tried everything" doesn't tell us anything. Specifically, which solutions from the hp.com site have you tried?

Yeah, thanks for pointing that out. So I tried to install drivers several times, I used drivers for other printers (HP EasyStart installed them automatically), I was deleting and adding my printer in settings, I tried to change some “printer sharing” preferences and searched for another driver for my printer but I couldn’t find any, only the one that EasyStart installs. I think that’s all as I remember well.

I would do a fresh start from scratch, if you have no over printers installed reset the printing system.

  • Unplug the printer from the Mac.
  • Go to System Preferences > Printers and Scanners > Right click in the box on the left hand side and select "Reset Printing System".
  • Plug the printer in again and click the add in the Printers and Scanners settings.

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately it didn’t help too, still the same error :/

I visited the driver download page for your printer and it seems that the driver installer is the same for macOS 10.9 through macOS 11.0 and it was released on Nov. 12, 2020. This doesn't mean it installs the same thing for each of those versions of macOS, but I'm wondering if they've goofed it up in one of their updates.

I don't see a way of getting an older version of those drivers…which would be nice so that you could try them out.

If you enter macOS 10.8 there's a different installer. You can always give that a shot.

Also, you could navigate the HP support system and ask if they can get you older versions of the installer for macOS 10.11 to try.
