I've an NTFS external hard drive that has all my files.

I installed "NTFS for mac" on two Macbook Pro's and the drive mounts on one but not the other. after many tries I uninstalled NTFS For Mac, the good is that the drive mounts however it's "read only"

I tried NTFS 3-G, and I got a message saying that the drive wasn't "properly ejected/safely removed" from my Windows XP laptop and the drive won't mount. I also tried using the terminal command for snow leopard's built in NTFS support but it didn't help either.

I even tried erasing and formatting the drive on OSX as NTFS (with NTFS for Mac), and it still won't mount!! I can see the drive on Disk Utility, but now I really have no idea of what's wrong or how to get it to work (read/write).

can someone help me with why it would work on one macbook pro (mid 2009) but not the other (2011-thunderbolt)?
