I am using a HP C3100, and whenever I print lecture slides with symbols on such as sigma and "n"s and "x"s all I get is a black box where the character should be. I know in powerpoint the formulas are put on the slides as pictures, but my friends who have the same printer in windows are printing them fine. One thing I have noticed, not sure if it is related but whenever I open a slide with the symbols in, a progress bar window comes up saying...

Graphics File:

Coverting MetaFilter.

And whenever I print it has to do this for all slides before it can print.

Does anyone have any ideas what I can do!? Thanks a lot.
