Anybody else having an issue with their external photo editor in Aperture?

I use Pixelmator; I have a new rMBP running Mountain Lion. When I'm in Aperture, and from there open a picture in Pixelmator (my specified external editor) everything is great until I try to save the edited picture (in Pixelmator) or export it. The MBP then just hangs for a couple of seconds, then has a dramatic kernel panic and shuts off (blank screen, power off, the full works). Upon reboot everything is fine (the altered image has NOT been saved), though Aperture shows a 'repair database' error code; after repair everything is back to normal.

If I use Pixelmator alone (export from Aperture to desktop, then open in Pixelmator) everything is fine. It seems to be something about saving the data within Aperture that causes the crash. The crash log shows Pixelmator as the culprit.

Any ideas or am I alone?
