The hold switch on my bro's nano seems to be acting up. It switches fully to the not held position, but the light seems to flicker on the screen. When you do the scrolling through menus, it keeps off. But when using a button, it shows hold is on. he has restored it, still happens.

BTW it is a 4 GB Silver 2 Generation Nano.

The hold mechanism's busted. Take it back.

Really? I would think it was a software problem, but it may not be. Is there any way I can get it off now? It is on(like, the software is botted up)

I am with Chundles.

This sounds like the same issue that my 3g 15gb has, however it is an early 2004 model, and has no warranty remaining!

His nano should be under warranty, and may need to be replaced!

hmm. he isn't going to be pleased. I wonder if iFixit has a guide on how to replace it.

Stuff iFixit - the bloody thing's under warranty. Use that warranty, if everyone stopped putting up with things breaking and not working properly and started putting in warranty repairs it will give all companies the impetus to improve their quality.

Take it to an Apple Store and get it fixed.
