Problem with song length in iMovie

I'm having a very annoying problem with iMovie 09.

I have a series of pictures and added some background music. The song is around 4:40 minutes long, yet the music clip says 3:55 and it doesn't let me change it.

Additionally, once the song hits just over a minute, it goes silent.

I inspected it with the clip trimmer and for some reason, when it hits that point, the audio spectrum goes flat. The mp3 is working and can be listened to perfectly in iTunes.

I tried using another song, but it stops playing at exactly the same point for some reason, even though there is still plenty of music to listen to.

Any help?

As you can see in the attached image, the song just drops in the middle, even though there is more song time.

Where does your video end?
The song will stop playing at the end of the video.
