Problem with Sony DCR-HC42E

I have a Sony Camcorder DCR-HC42E, I have been using my camcorder with window PC's earlier and it worked properly. But when I connect it to Mac, the Mac doesn't even detects the camcorder, not even Image Capture,iPhoto or iMovie detects it. I have tried many ways to transfer my videos from camcorder to Mac, but the problem is that it is not getting detected, that is very embarrassing.

Please tell me how to solve this issue, it is very disappointing.
