Problem with Sound after playing dts files in VLC

Hi
I have recently upgraded to OSX Lion. Now when I play dts audio files in VLC with HDMI(Encoded Input) in the Audio Menu, the sound for the whole system goes away and I have to restart my macbook pro in order to get my sound.
I am not able to plat dts encoded audio files on my mac due to this... :( any solutions ?
