I have a problem hooking up my soundblaster via toslink(Optical sound) to a 5.1 surround system. When I play back I only get 2 channels to work, even though the setting are set to 5.1 on my mac mini. I have tried to change settings in the MIDI thing, but it doesn't work. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Is there any softwear or so that would fix it?

I'm not sure about an optical connection.
Maybe this will help you get it working.
He says:
To get 5.1 Surround sound working:
*) You must connect your surround speakers to the Green/Yellow/Black 3.5mm connections on the X-Fi Surround 5.1 device!!!

Thanks for the help, but ive tried this.. I can't use the Green/Yellow/Black connections because the reciever I use does only have optical input.
