Hi there,

I have MacBook Pro 13inch mid 2012 , Intel I5 2.5Ghz . About a year ago I removed my HDD and replaced it with SSD and it work flawlessly ever since. Due to running short on space on my SSD I decided to buy a optical drive bay for HDD so yesterday I removed my optical drive and installed HDD that I used before upgrading SSD in my macbook. Everything seemed to work fine for about an hour and when I decided to move some files from SSD to HDD my mac became unusable slow.. I did NVRAM reset and any other suggested solutions but nothing had helped so I decided to do a clean install of system .

This is when I came across more problems - the disk utility would not allow me to erase and partition my SSD - I kept on getting Files System Formatter Failed. Therefore I installed system on HDD and everything went fine. Once installed I tried again to erase and partition SSD but I kept on getting the same error. I downloaded 3rd party software iPartition which allowed me to erase the SSD and create partition so I tried to install the system again this time on SSD. I started the installation from my HDD and it successively proceed to installation after reboot of system. The installation have failed after 10 mins.

I replaced my SSD(crucial MX100) with another SSD(crucial M500) to see if maybe this first SSD died - the disk utility managed to erase and partition it, I proceeded to system installation, however it's already been 6 hours and installation is still stuck on Remaining 12 minutes.. the progress bar moves slightly but it's impossible that clean installation took so many hours especially when using SSD (on my hdd it literally took 17min to install it ) .

The SSD im using is 256GB Crucial MX100 (but as I said I didn't have any problems with it until I removed my optical drive and replaced it with HDD )

System I tried to install on SSD and have installed on my HDD - Yosemite 10.10.3

Any help appreciated !
