Problem with syncing bookmarks from Internet Explorer to iPad2

I have just received my new iPad 2 and have set it up successfully and managed to sync everything except bookmarks. When I try to do this it comes us up with the error message: iTunes could not sync infomration to the iPad because a sync session could not be started. Can anyone help? I've found some suggested solutions on other sites but these seemed to be for wider sync/ backup issues and not bookmarks only.
