Problem with syncing contacts

So long story short.... Somehow I lost all of my contacts when I updated to 5.1.1....

So I restored my phone back to a previous back up, and all of my contacts were back... But of course, since that restore was a couple months ago, I can't stay with it.

So how the heck do I somehow save the contacts, then restore my phone AGAIN to it's newest restore (where I don't have contacts) and get these contacts back...?

This is the most frustrating thing ever. I've tried to sync the contacts with yahoo, gmail, and windows contacts and they don't save.....

I'm about 10 seconds away from throwing the phone through the wall. Any tips?
