Problem With The Audio In

Hi All
When i Plug a Cable To My iMac in the IN Slot , Everything on the imac becomes Slow

When I Play Music on iTunes It Plays n Stop , It Desnt Play Continuasly :S
When i record smth , the timer of the recorder Stops for few secodns nd then continu .. then ater a while it stops and recontinu :S

Can i know what is that prob ? :S
