Problem with the mic i think

Im located in England and use my Iphone on o2. i have had it since july, its a 3g one, now this problem is strange because nothing has happened, i have literally woke up and the problem has started, when i call someone or receive a call and talk. They cant hear me. i switch it to speaker and there is no problem at all then if i go back to normal. as i speak i can hear crackling and thats all the other person hears.

so has anybody got any idea what is going on with it?
