Problem with touch bar

I have a refurbished 2019 Macbook Pro running Catalina. I use it mostly for Photoshop. I use my f keys frequently and have them assigned to various Photoshop tasks. I have the f 12 key assigned to content aware fill. Every so often when I press f12 instead of content aware fill it performs Revert, which is the default setting for that key. This happened on two different versions of Photoshop so I have ruled that out as the cause. So my question is it Catalina or Hardware related. If hardware related, today is the last day I can return my machine under Apple's return policy. I would rather not have to do that but it is the better choice to being stuck with a lemon. What do you think? Is is possibly Catalina and will eventually be fixed?
