Problem with transferring file from my MBP to iMac

Hi all,

I recently purchased a iMac. I have been trying to transfer files from my MBP to my imac for a while, but can't figure it out. I have transferred files from my MBP to powerbook before. I have connected the firewire, but i don't see an external hd icon on both MBP and imac. Did i do anything wrong? please help me out. Thanks

Have you rebooted one of them whilst holding T, to access Target Disk Mode?
