Hello everyone!

I bought the Airpods Pro 2 to use as my first hearing aids (diagnosed with mild to moderate hearing loss) and in general, I am very satisfied with them apart from a bug (?) that occurs randomly and many times during the day.

While I am listening everything around me crystal clear (music etc), at random times I feel that it suddenly fades, only in one ear, as if the sounds stops getting amplified and the ANC is softly triggered temporarily.
Sometimes it happens while I am talking, my voice becomes lower.
After a while it goes back to normal.

I have checked all settings in Accessibility, Hearing Assistance and all setttings look fine.
Conversation Awareness is off, same goes for Loud Noise Reduction.

Is this a known issue? I've found posts that mention the opposite problem (ANC fading out) but I haven't found any that mentions Transparency issues, especially after Apple enabled the Hearing Assistance mode.

Thank you in advance!

I found this happens if the feedback suppression (all hearing aids need this) gets triggered. Two things I found trigger it (i) sounds in the environment which sounds like feedback, e.g. dog high pitch whine or certain music sometimes (ii) the tip seal isn't good enough and it's just about giving feedback oscillation, even though the tip fit test will pass. I solved the problem by changing the tip size. If putting your hand over your AirPods + problem ear creates feedback more easily than the other ear, then feedback is a good bet.

Wow, thanks so much, super useful information!

Now that you mention it, I actually notice it much more when there is opera music playing in the backround, or if someone laughs or speaks high-pitched.
So I guess it's the feedback suppression you mention, which I had no idea it exists until now, I am fairly new to all this!

I doubt that it's the tip size because I remember I used to have huge issues with the provided small sized ear tips on my old Airpods Pro 1st gen - they always fell of my ears very easily!

The XS ear tips on the Airpods Pro 2 feel so much more secure, at least until now! I hope it stays that way and that their quality doesn't degrade super fast!
