I was reading the UPS website and it says you can reroute your package to the UPS location of choice for free, and it’s usually available to pick up by 8:30 am on delivery day.

So I did that. My tracking number says the 9/21. But I went through and set it up to hold at my nearest UPS Store. I didn’t get any confirmation or indication prior to completion that the date would be changing. Then after I completed it, it said they’re processing my request and I should be able to pick it up on 9/24.

Not happy with this, I wanted to cancel that action. But now it says delivery cannot be changed at this time.

Tried calling, but they’re closed.

Wtf? Has this happened to anyone else, and is the date change accurate? Or would it still show up tomorrow? Or can I cancel my delivery change request?

When you reroute a ups package to a store and NOT a customer counter/warehouse/distributition center, the delivery date will change. The app (in the past) warns of this. Once the change is made, it cannot be undone.

This is accurate. You should do CC not UPS store.

Well damnit, I wish that would’ve been clearer. It said to choose a location, and I typed in my zip code and picked the closest one. It never said anything about changing the date before confirming the selection.

What a load of crap.

It does tell you before you hit submit what day it will be available though.

I didn’t see that on the website until after I moved forward. The last button I hit said “continue” which I assumed would bring me to a final review/confirmation page before finalizing it.
[doublepost=1537438727][/doublepost]I can’t believe it would take 3 extra days to go less than a mile down the damn street. I’m pretty pissed about that.

Live and learn. Been there myself. Your only option is to see if you can call them and cancel the request verbally. It hasn't re-routed yet and it's just a note right now - technically. So they can probably remove it from the system if you're lucky or change it to a CC.

Call and see.

I tried that. She said the system wouldn’t let her make changes and I should call technical support. Called them, and after some digging, he claims that it will be at the selected UPS Store on the 21st. I’m not sure I believe it yet. Might call again later and change it to the CC if possible, just to be safe.

My scenario exactly. I was trying to hold it at what I thought was a service center but instead it was a ups store. And the app DOES NOT warn you that it will change the date. After you confirm it (which is one-click, stupid design) it then informs you your new date is 9/24. Called and got the same BS, they can't change it. She insists that it will be at the ups store tomorrow. My money says it won't....

UPS sucks! Maybe Apple should get into the shipping business with their Trillion dollars...

Last year I was able to pick up my phones at the CC. This year when I tried to change the pick up to it, I only get UPS stores as an option. From what I understand that will push the day up to Monday the 24th. I guess we will just have to make sure someone is home. UPS usually comes late in the day or even early evening. My granddaughter has a soccer game that we want to go to at 5:30. I hope the phones do come in early.

I had the issue you are having last year...I was able to call UPS and they were able to add the CC location and hold for pick-up on launch day, might be worth a try.

hopefully it'll be there tomorrow. UPS was a disaster around this area during Christmas. For a few weeks, we had random box trucks, some were rentals, being driven around while they delivered packages almost a week late.

When I saw UPS was the shipper for this order, I knew there were going to be issues...

Just tried that. They said they are unable to change any request to change delivery to pickup at a ups store. It's possible that if you haven't done that, they will change it to pickup at a CC from your original delivery address. But it's not an option in the app and once chosen, customer service can't override it.

What UPS basically does is when you submit a delivery change, it spits your package out of their normal rotation. For example, let say these 100 packages goes around your city/county. When UPS detects your package on the belt, it pushes it out to another belt. This area where your package will end up, requires special "human" attention. So for you, since you requested an address change, a human would need to take your package, scan it, print a new label and slap a new label on it. After, it gets toss back to the normal belt path to your destinated truck/plane, etc. That way, the delivery guy would know what to do with your delivery.

Now, this process may take 1 minute or half a day. Depend how fast they can slap this label on.

My personal experience is a mix. Sometimes is same day and sometimes is the next day. UPS do used to warn you about possible delay when you make a change.

Good luck.

I’m in the same boat. Family and I need to be somewhere by 5, namely the Apple Store to pick up my husband’s iPhone and my Apple Watch. He messed up our order due to being half asleep. Unfortunately nobody can stay behind to sign because we are all required to be at an event.

All I can say to everyone participating in this thread is thanks for the warning.

I bet if I had used the actual website, it would have warned me. The UPS app on my iPhone did not warn of any delay in shipment date. It just had a green "confirm" button once you selected a location for pickup. Only UPS Stores and "lockers" at random locations were options, no CC's were listed.

Lesson learned. Maybe I'll still be surprised at it will end up in ups store tomorrow.

You will be fine. Waited a year for this already. ;-)

Whatever you do, do not cancel your delivery change. It will just loop back for another "human" label change. It will further delay your delivery. Their system wont know what label is on the package during transit.

Probably would screw it up again. Maybe that's why they don't allow a second change. It still shows last scan was in ANC, AK so maybe it's still sitting on a pallet next to a polar bear for all I know. Guess 9/24 is better than having an early Oct. delivery.

I wish the website would’ve had a “confirm” button. It just said “continue” so I thought I was going to the next step, or some sort of review screen before confirming. Nope... it just finished it instead. But I don’t recall seeing any date change on the website. I was in the mobile site fwiw.

I don't have any issue with this. When I have my packages re-routed to my local UPS store, the packages arrive by noon on release day. Basically I think the driver just goes to the store instead of my house.

I’m glad to hear that people have picked up from a UPS Store on release day. Hopefully that ends up being the case!

I’ve rerouted my new phone to store several times. Always got it on original scheduled delivery date. I’ve done the same again this year and expect the same. But, if it doesn’t, they did warn me and it’s only three more days. Besides, the anticipation is half the fun.

Hopefully you will get lucky and it will deliver to store tomorrow. But I have seen the other way also, where it causes a one business day delay and you can't get it until Monday. Just depends if they load it on the truck, which you should be able to see by tomorrow morning.

Well I'm sorry you didn't see my "Don't screw up your delivery date like I did!!" post I made a couple days ago. This is exactly EXACTLY the same thing that happened to me on Monday or Tuesday. I did it on the mobile web site (just visited ups.com on my iphone) and they do NOT show the changed date until after you hit continue. Then the screens says it's been submitted and the new estimated delivery date is, etc. There is literally no way to cancel this request. UPS has told me it's impossible. If you used myChoice the ONLY person on Earth that can adjust it is you, with your myChoice account. UPS and managers and tech support have zero control to change a myChoice request, or at least that's what I've been told by three different people. Tech support tried to have me reset my password so I could log in to myChoice and change it, then again they're absolutely stupid out sourced support that don't even understand the question...

I'm hugely annoyed how their system works. There is no cancel option anywhere in the app, online, or on their mobile site. You only have the option of picking a different date, or a different UPS location. Thankfully I was able to adjust it again to a customer center and the estimated date changed back to tomorrow. However, the UPS store I wanted it going to was less then two miles from my home and was open till 7pm. The customer care center is across town (at least 30 to 45 min drive during traffic that time of day) and closes at 6pm. I'll have to leave work early and drive like a mad man across town to get this. I really wish UPS was open on Saturdays, or I really wish Apple would deliver on Thursday so customers had a one business day window to try and go pick up missed packages. I was told a couple years ago by my long term UPS driver that they're not even supposed to leave iPhone release day packages at homes even if you leave a signed auth form out for them, it has to be a physical signature at time of delivery, or missed delivery attempt.

MacRumors really should post a yearly reminder that UPS's system is **** and for people to NOT use these "features" because it'll screw up delivery options.

Every year someone makes this mistake. Despite all the posts and threads here stating to hold for pickup at a CC.
