Hi-
I have a Western Digital 750MB Studio Edition hard drive (WD HD) connected to my Mac OSX10 Desktop via Firewire 800. The Firewire connection is supposed to turn off the WD HD when the Mac is shut down. My problem is that both the Mac and the WD HD are plugged into a switched connector bar that I turn off after the Mac is turned off and turn on before I turn on the Mac. This seems to confuse the WD HD. Even though the WD icons appear on the desktop, and as a TimeMachine destination, sometimes TimeMachine refuses to do a backup. It just spins and spins and sometimes the Mac freezes and I have to do a force quit (hold the on/off button down). Any work arounds for this problem other than using the slower USB connection instead of Firewire?
Thanks!
