Im having trouble boosting the speed on my Windows 7 install. The problem is I dont understand what works better because I know the Mac is running Parallels which is running Windows and if I lower some stuff it raises the rating and the reverse also. My computer is a 15" MBP, I7 2.66ghz, 8gb ram, 500gb 7200 rpm hd, and nvidia gforce 330m graphics card. Currently I have Parallels set to 2gb ram, 1 core, no compressing, all advantages toward windows/virtual machine and it rates at 4.7 because the processor, but with almost exactly the same settings it was once a 4.9 (held back because of graphics) but processor was around 6.3.
Ive tried giving windows 7 up to 4gb of ram but when I look at the properties in windows, it says XXX installed (2.75gb usable) I spent an hour on the phone with parallels today and im sure most of you know, no one in technical support can speak english or fix anything related to parallels so I accomplished nothing except minutes on my cell phone.
What settings do you guys recommend and is it possible to change the harddrive allocation for parallels while its already installed because im thinking about also installing windows 7 on bootcamp for times when I really need the computer because im running Autocad, Mastercam, and Solidworks and they are all pretty killer on computer performance.
