iPod touch Problem with wipe

I started wiping my 2G iPod Touch last night and left it to finish on a charger. at this time it is just on the apple image when you boot up. is it still wiping? it stopped showing the loading bar last night. every 15 or so minutes it turns white, then turns black, then goes back to the apple.

should i just try and power it off? or hook it up to my computer?
