I just upgraded my Yahoo Mail account to Plus for 20 bucks just to get it to work with my Mail app..

But I got a problem here..

It is receiving emails no problem BUT it would not send any emails at all.. The outgoing server would not connect or anything.. not sure why

It is authenticated.. and the port number is correct.. also the SSL is enabled..

I dont see how can it not send out messages?

I am hoping that I have not wasted 20 bucks for nothing!

Also, I got Entourage 2008, and I am trying it out, but apparently it is not sending out messages as well.. must be something wrong here?

any help would be appreciated, thanks

To confirm-

you are using the following settings (I got this from yahoo)

Incoming Mail (POP3) Server: plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com (Use SSL, port: 995)
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com (Use SSL, port: 465, use authentication)
Account Name/Login Name: Your Yahoo! Mail ID (your email address without the "@yahoo.com")
Email Address: Your Yahoo! Mail address (e.g., user@yahoo.com)
Password: Your Yahoo! Mail password

Make sure you have mail plus first.
Want to POP your Yahoo! Mail Plus into the Microsoft Entourage email client for Macintosh? Here's how to do it:

Open the Entourage email client (application) and click the "Tools" menu.
Select "Accounts" from the pull-down menu.
Click the "New" button in the upper-left corner of the Accounts window.
Enter your name as you would like it to appear to the recipient.
Click the radio button next to "I already have an email address that I'd like to use."
Enter your email address in the field provided (e.g., "user@yahoo.com").
Select "My incoming mail server is a(n) POP3."
Enter pop.mail.yahoo.com (your incoming mail server) in the field provided.
Click 'Click here for advanced receiving options' in the 'Receiving mail' section.
Check the box next to 'This POP service requires a secure connection (SSL).'
Enter smtp.mail.yahoo.com (your outgoing (SMTP) mail server) in the field provided.
Click 'Click here for advanced sending options' in the 'Sending mail' section.
Check the box next to 'SMTP service requires secure connection (SSL), ' and click 'OK.'
Check the box next to 'Override default SMTP port:,' and enter '465' in the box.
Check the box next to 'SMTP server requires authentication,' and click 'OK.'
In the "Account ID" field, enter your Yahoo! ID (e.g., your email address without the "@yahoo.com").
Enter your password.
To have the Entourage client remember your password so you won't need to enter each time you send or receive mail, check the "Remember password" box.
Enter your full Yahoo! email address in the "Account Name" field.
Click "Finish."
Important: The Yahoo! SMTP server requires authentication. To enable this setting, do the following:

Open the Entourage client (application) and click the "Tools" menu.
Select "Accounts" from the pull-down menu.
Double-click your Yahoo! account.
On the Account Settings window, scroll to the "Sending Mail" category toward the bottom.
Click "Click Here for Advanced Sending Options."
Check the box next to "SMTP Server Requires Authentication."
Close this window by clicking the tiny box in the upper-left corner.
Click "OK."
To ensure the new settings are configured properly, I suggest closing the Entourage client and opening it again before sending or receiving messages.

So with this setup on Apples mail.app will it allow me to see all my Yahoo! Plus mail folders or just the Yahoo! inbox?
