Problem with Yahoo Messenger

Hi Guys,
I have recently switched over to a Mac for the 1st time ever. I have purchased a White Macbook, 2.4 Ghz, 250 GB HD. I have installed Yahoo Messenger on it but I am unable to find the option that allows u to join chat rooms. Does the Mac version come like that or have i downloaded an outdated version for the Mac?? Please suggest.

The latest version (3.0 beta 3) from http://messenger.yahoo.com/mac/ gives you the option to join a chatroom by selecting File > John a Yahoo Chat Room as is shown in the screenshot.
