Hello, I am new to MAC. Simple question. When I close a program using the red X in the top left corner, they do not completely close. I have to go to the file bar at the top and close it. Is there a way to make programs close when the red x is pressed to avoid the hassle of using the file bar??

No, the red X only closes the window, not the program. However, on single-windowed programs (for example iPhoto) closing that single window with red X will close the program.

The easiest way to close down the whole program is Apple+Q
