Alright, so I' back home in the states, & I would like to get a 1TB portable hard drive, like the WD passport. Thing is I read that the current WD 1TB has cable connection issues. A guy at work bought one, & sure enough, the cable wiggled around enough to break the connection if he moved his laptop.

Anyway, I decide to go with the Seagate Free Agent HD, but I can't transfer anything to it.

I did a search on reformatting, but I'm not sure what to use in disc utility. I read one post that said to erase the hd using the all zero's fuction, I'm doing that now, & the progress bar is now at 12 hours left (it was 15 hours when it started).

I didn't do anything to it when I plugged it into the computer, just like I didn't do anything to the three other WD Passports I own.

The Seagate box says it has auto backup & sync software for PC, but I've also read on here that its a waste of $$ to buy a HD that says Mac formatted, when you can do it yourself. I tried erasing it using the journaled mac option, but I got an error message about 10 seconds into it saying the computer could not read the disc/format error.

So what function do I use to reformat it? Should I let the MB Pro continue for the next 12 hours overwriting it with zero's?
