had a new homepod mini for about a month and having trouble house training it. overall it compliments my google home mini as they have their strengths and weaknesses. the google is useful for playing bbc radio as an alarm clock whereas homepod doesnt seen to do music as alarm.
all my music is in apple so main thing for homepod is that, plus it sounds better, and the scottish radio channel i listen to isnt on tunein but i can send it to homepod from my phone or mini.
i have two connected problems with the homepod. when i am playing radio clyde, running on say my ipad and then sent to my homepod, and the phone rings or i have another reason to stop it playing. Similarly, i tend to use my google for timing when cooking as it doesnt have this problem, but sometimes im timing two sets of food or ive barked at google and she hasnt heard me and i then give homepod a try.
my problem is, i cant get homepod to shut up as easily as google. when google is playing music, 'hey google stop' is good enough. when a timer goes off i dont even have to say 'hey google', 'stop' is enough.
but with the homepod, its like battling with a teenager..... 'hey siri stop' 'hey siri stop playing' 'hey siri shut the .....' and im tapping on the top and its an important phone call and siri wont stop, she quietens to listen to me, then ignores me and plays loud. or im trying to cook and the food is burning in the kitchen cos im i the lounge shouting at siri to stop the timer...
am i missing something? is there an easy way to get homepod to stop 100% of the time, separately when a radio app is airplayed from ipad, and then when a timer is finished?
