I really got some issues importing media into iMovie09 (version 8.0.6).

I use something called clipconverter.cc to download videos from Youtube. It easily allows me to convert clips to f.ex. .mov files which runs smoothly in Quicktime (version 10.3).

But even so, I can't import it into iMovie. This is what I do:

I use the clipconverter to download and convert a video from youtube. I convert it into a .mov file. I then save the file on my desktop - I as well drag the file into iPhoto. Then I create a new project, opens archive >> Import >> Movie ..... Then I locate my file .mov file, click on it >> Import ... but nothing! A sign drops down though for a second or so, where it prepares it for import, but... nothing. Not even an error-msg. Nothing.

You guys got any idea what I can try out?

Sincerely

ChrisJN (I own an iMac with OS X 10.9.2)

A .mov file is just a container for the video and audio portions of your video. These portions can be produced using various codecs, some iMovie will recognise, some it won't.

Convert your downloaded Youtube videos with MPEGStreamclip. Choose the Export To Quicktime option and then choose Apple Intermediate Codec from the Compression bar. iMovie is optimised for the AIC format.
