Problems installing a Canon Selphy CP760

Has someone ever tried to install a Canon Selphy CP760 under OSX 10.5.6? My spouse bought that printer yesterday and I don't get it running.

The installation of the printer driver looks ok. It creates a two directories under /Library/Printers/Canon:
SELPHYCP contains resources (nothing looks like a printer driver)
CP: is empty.

When I try to configure the printer, no suitable driver is listed.

Please help!

Sorry to resurrect this very old thread, but just in case someone finds it on a search & is still looking for a solution ...

I've found about the only way to run Canon Selphy printers on Lion is to use Gutenprint. Canon drivers just won't install.
