Hey MacRumors,

I'm having a bit of an issue and am at my absolute wits end. My pre-unibody Macbook Pro's hard drive crashed, and I've been having trouble reinstalling Snow Leopard. I took out the hard drive, put it in an external case, and miraculously recovered most of the files I needed onto another computer. When I went to reinstall Snow Leopard, I ran into a lot of trouble because my Disc Drive has been dead for the past year, this has been the first time I've actually needed it! I extracted the Disc Image from my SL Install Disc to my old hard drive/new external drive which I formatted. I can't seem to get it to boot from the external HD, I get the dreaded Prohibitory Screen and have continued to get it after resetting the PRAM, NVRAM, trying safe mode, etc. I thought maybe I the Disk Utility extract maybe went wrong, but when I plugged the drive into my other computer the SL Install Disc mounted as if I put in the disc. I've tried pretty much everything I've found on the internet, you guys are my only hope! Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated!
