I have a new Lion laptop that I configured to join the Active Directory domain in my company. The machine seemed to bind just fine to AD, and I selected prompt user to create mobile account at login.

I can connect to windows shares, and my machine name appears in AD.

However, I don't get the "other" option to log in as a network user when I log out. It sometimes appears, but does not accept my domain user account (now it is gone completely).

I also cannot connect to the Exchange server when I try to add an Exchange account is System Preferences-->Mail

any advice would be great

did you bind from the cmdline or from Users and Groups? As far as I know directory util is still busted unless run from Users and Groups.
ALl I did was rebind my iMac and it worked correctly
Users and Groups -> Login options -> Network Account Server (click the edit button) and away you go.
I had this exact same problem but after I did this it was fixed.
Re: Exchange, Lion is some rather weird issues with getting Kerberos tickets
