Hi,

My niece smashed the screen of my ipad 2, so I got a new glass kit online, but when I put it on, I noticed a wire out of place and it looks like it is busted. When I turn the ipad on, it seems to work, but I cant use the slide bar. Is this wire something I can get a part for?

Thanks, I have looked everywhere for this info

RE: Problems replacing glass/slide bar

There are three cables in that general vicinity that I know of:
  1. Wifi Connector
  2. Dock Connector
  3. Speaker cable connector

I don't see why any of these would cause the slide bar not to function, but I could be wrong. More than likely, it has something to do with the digitizer (the glass that you're replacing). The digitizer connects to the logic board via a ribbon at the bottom left of your iPad.

Hope that helps. BTW, here is a pretty handy walk-through that discusses the cables in question.
