So I just installed 4.2 and it went well, but for some reason I can't seem to get my backup file to load back up. It just sits there saying "restoring from backup and estimated time remaining". Has anyone else had this problem?

I had the same problem. I had to unplug, restart iTunes, restore 4.2 again, then it loaded my back up. I have no idea why.

I had this, might be resolved now though. I aborted the first attempt, but found some stuff on the iPad, so it may have been working, just looked like it wasn't.

So I tried again, same behaviour. Then I read the first reply to your question, 'are you a developer', and closed XCode. Within several seconds a time estimate appeared. Wandering from 20 to 40 minutes, with a progress bar.

So I figure closing XCode might have resolved it.

So, are you a developer? XCode running?

Im having this problem, but its not due to another application being open.

any ideas what else this could be?

I have the same problem. The progress bar on the ipad (under the white apple) stops about 3/4 of the way to the end of the bar. Happens whether the ipad is connected to iTunes or disconnected from the Mac. I am not a developer and have no idea what xcode is.
