Here is my goal:
Ultimately, I want to initiate a download that will save onto a Windows 7 computer from my iMac. I use the Mac more than my Windows machine, but the Windows computer is a laptop and there are certain things I need to go straight on to this machine, but I don't want to have to issue the download from the laptop itself.
I am trying to mount the computer through finder, using the "Go to..." method. I enter:
"smb://192.168.1.***" (local network address of the Windows) and Finder just stays on connecting until it finally times out. I don't ever get the option to enter a username or password. I did try creating the same username and password on both computers to no avail.
Any ideas? Sharing is enabled on both computers. Password protected sharing is on (Windows machine). I tried turning it off.
