Ok, so I've got an old iPhone 4S, plugged it into my my Macbook Air > iTunes and use back up iphone. Then plugged in my new iPhone 5 and click "restore".

Few minutes later its done, but says there's an error message at the very end, but it restarts the iPhone 5. Once started it looks like all my contacts have transferred across, but no photos, no videos, no notes and none of my SMS messages from the iPhone 4 have transferred.. what gives? Any ideas whats gone wrong?

Thanks in advance

Did it just dump ur apps all over the place and contacts restored only? Im having the same problem from iphone 5 32gb to iphone 5s 16gb

Its weird. All the contacts and purchased apps transferred over, but thats it. Nothing else.

And looking back, I think my wife might have accidentally updated her old iPhone 4S with the new IOS and somehow wiped it! All her photos are gone! Guess there's no way to retrieve it? I tried to restore based on the backup on from iTunes but b/c it didn't back up the photos, no luck there either.

Is there an app or software that can salvage photos on her iphone 4S?

On your 4s, backup to iCloud. On your 5c, restore via iTunes. When it's done, disconnect and go thru the setup assistant. Choose "use existing iCloud Backup" and then you should be good to go.

Thanks, but I think the photos are deleted from installing the new IOS7 and reset. So backing up to iCloud isn't going to help.

However, is there an app or software that can salvage photos deleted from the 4S?
