Hi All,

I am a recent PC->Mac switcher. I have been having problems playing many .avi files. I downloaded both the xvid and divx quicktime components and have video but no audio. The movies work fine when they're played on windows media player. Any ideas??

An AVI is a container file which could have any one of a number of media codecs inside. Install Perian if you want to use QuickTime Player, otherwise you should use VLC and re-assign the AVI file type to that. Both will recognise a large number of codecs.
