I hope im putting this in the right place.

I have an iPhone 5 and im trying to use the Apple remote app for itunes on my iMac.
When i start the app up i get the prompt on iTunes to input the 4 digit code that is on the app. I do this, then the app spends about a minute trying to connect to my library then comes up with an error. "remote cant connect to your itunes library, please check your network settings and try again"
I have read a few forums and they pointed out firewalls can get in the way. SO i have disabled the firewall on my iMac and on my router and still i cant connect.

Just checked the VLC app and it connects and works fine. And remote mouse also works.
Itunes is up to date, and so is the remote software and my iphone software.
Can anyone help me please.
