Problems with Audio Out?

When iTunes finishes playing and stops, my Bose USB speakers stop playing audio. I know it's not the speakers because I simultaneously use them as output for my Xbox 360, which plays just fine (at the same time).

I have to unplug and plug the speakers back in for them to work. I can select them in System Preferences or the advanced Sound icon menu, but it doesn't play. iTunes reports that it is playing a song, and unplugging the USB speaker or selecting another line out reveals that it is.

Does anyone know why this is happening? It's driving me crazy.
