i purchased this an EasyAcc 7 Ports USB 3.0 HUB with 12V 3A Power Adapter and 3ft USB 3.0 Cable for iPad iMac Macbook Acer Laptop Utrabook PCs [with VIA VL812 Chipset] from amazon last week but im having problems with it and was wondering if anyone could help i have it connected to my new imac 27" running mavericks osx when i try to copy files from the imac to usb 3.0 usb sticks which are plugged into the hub it gets so far then crashes every time. ive tried plugging the sticks directly into the imac and copying the same files and it works perfectly does anyone have any ideas ?

I don't have any experience of that hub, but other VL812 hubs work fine.

Have you tested the hub with any other computer? It could of course just be defective.

Other than that, you could see if you could find a later firmware for your hub, even from a different manufacturer perhaps. I remember someone on Amazon having slow USB 2.0 speeds with a VL812 hub, who fixed it with a firmware update for a different hub.

Here you go:

If you want to give the firmware update a go, there it is.

EDIT: AT YOUR OWN RISK, OF COURSE! You could brick your hub, although that is very unlikely considering it looks like the identical same device as yours.

I havn't used that one. If you cannot solve it yourself and even with the helps here, contact with their customer service and that could be a way to do it.

I used Hootoo 7 ports and have updated my Macbook to Mavericks, doesn't have your issue. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DKOVVR4

I'd give the firmware update a go. I am 99% sure this will fix the problem. It's very straightforward to do - all the instructions are on the page I linked for you.

I've downloaded it then ran it but it's not detecting the hub ?

In the info it's saying its version 1.00
