Problems with file sharing

I have a macbook pro 17" 2006 model and I am trying to file share with my mac mini.

The macbook pro only has lion on it while the mac mini has mountain lion on it and I can get the mini to recognize the macbook but can't get the macbook to recognize the mini.

Is lion not capable of seeing the files for the mini or what am I doing wrong?
