Problems with 'G-Drive' Please Help!!!!

I recently bought a 4tb G-Drive thinking it would be a good drive to back up all my data, I have just got this message when I connect it...Please Help!!!!!

' The disk "G-Drive" was not repairable by this computer. It is being made available to you with limited functionality. You must back up your data and reformat the disk as soon as possible.'

How is it formatted? Did you format it in a Mac-friendly way when you purchased it?
