Don’t know if anyone can shed any light on a problem I’m experiencing with my new Scanjet 3800. I had a 3800, which I was sharing with someone else, but then we needed another as we were to be working from different locations.

So I purchased exactly the same model, as it had worked problem free for months. However when my new Scanjet arrived, my Mac refused to intialize it. I tried everything and eventually sent it back to the retailer as faulty. They sent me a replacement, but exactly the same thing is happening, which leads me to suppose that I have either a hardware issue or software clash. I am running Mac OS 10.4 and the only subsequent software I have loaded on to my machine since first successfully running a 3800, is Skype and Free-1 USB phone.

I would be eternally gratfeul and obliged if anyone can help.
