Problems with iphoto

I have a problem. Every time I export a picture from iphoto, none of the changes stick. It goes back to the way the picture looked before it was edited. The only things that stays is the Red eye fix. Anything that was done in the adjust option does not show in the exported jpeg. Is this normal? I thought that the point of using iphoto was to edit the pictures and export them with the edits intact. Please help!!

PS. i have a late 2007 Macbook with iLife 08
