I'm having problem with Mail, Entourage, Safari repeatedly prompting me for passwords that I know are stored in the Keychain, despite the fact that each time I type the password in I check off "remember this password next time" check box. This just started happening about a week ago. I repaired permissions, but that didn't help. Called AppleCare and the tech told me the OS is corrupted and I need to do an Archive&Install. Um, that sounds a bit too drastic to me; I'd like to avoid doing this if I can. Any ideas?

Problem solved (I so hate to answer my own questions!).

I moved the keychains folder to the desktop, restarted (which created a fresh keychains folder with a fresh logins keychain), tested that (it worked fine, i.e., it remembered my mail password), copied the old logins keychain back to the new keychains folder, restarted and viola! -- everything is back to normal.

And to think the AppleCare tech would have had me rebuild the entire operating system!
