Mail will not close out with the Quit command and I must use a forced quit.

Also, the Junk Mail button will not assign a junk category to a specific e-mail

Also, I am having trouble deleting e-mail at my server (earthlink.net)

I have entered Pref/Accts/Advanced/ set remove from server "when moved from in box".
I have reloaded the OS 10.4 and added all updates. I have deleted all junk messages that are diverted to junk box (deleted normally every day) and re-started computer.

Try logging into web mail and deleting the spam/possible troublesome email.

I do log on every several days to clean out web mail, but it starts over.

Did your Mac come with 10.4.8 or did this problem occur with 10.4.7?

The problem was occurring with 10.4.7 and a technician installed 10.4.8 (which I will go back to if I can not fix myself)

Have you installed any sort of plugin or extension to Mail.app (httpmail, etc)?

N0 - there is no plugin or extension
