Problems with Medieval 2 on VMWare

I have a new iMac, and am using VMWare to install Medieval 2 Total War Gold Edition. It worked, and I was able to play once. Now every time I go back on to play, and I click on the icon, it starts to load. Then a box pops up saying "Unspecified Error: Medieval II has to exit." It's really frustrating. Any tips?
