Problems with MSN on my Mac OS X

I downloaded MSN messenger 4.0, but it tells me that I need to download the latest version in order to use MSN. I downloaded, but nothing showed up and it told me the same thing when I tried to log on again. Why is this? What did I miss?

Beware, it's still PowerPC only, so your computer will feel nice and slow and Microsoft-like whenever you have it running.

How badly MSN sucks, perhaps?

Or get an AIM account and use iChat.

Not if they're all using iChat. Or one of the many PC alternatives available.
