Problems with receiving text notifications in iOS 12

I have a ‘18 GMC Sierra that I’ve been extremely happy with as far as phone integration. Bluetooth music streaming, sending and receiving texts (connected via Bluetooth) and CarPlay (connected via charger) have all been great. However now that I’ve updated to iOS 12 I no longer receive my text notifications when I’m connected via Bluetooth. I also can’t even go in to my messages and have them played. Is anyone else having this problem? I’ve also noticed when I tell Siri to text people she’s had a hard time getting the names right between two different contacts of mine. I never had a single problem with any of this before iOS 12. Kinda wish I wouldn’t have updated now. Especially since I don’t like the way the messages app is now.
